FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE

In 1934, Harold Heaven mysteriously disappeared from his remote cabin in Minden, Ontario. In 2020, his great-great nephew Mike Mildon and his best friend Jackson Rowe, comedians in Toronto, become amateur detectives to finally solve the coldest of cold cases.

The result is FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE, the eight-episode documentary series that blends comedy and true crime - earning three Canadian Screen Award nominations.

Mike and Jackson uncover real leads, perform interrogations, and learn surprising revelations about both Harold himself and how his loss has reverberated through the Heaven family to the present day.

FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE is available to stream on Paramount+ and CBC Gem.

“For Heaven’s Sake explores a side of true crime that is often overlooked, and it wants the viewer to know that these cases, the ones that aren’t bloody or shocking enough to make it into an episode of Forensic Files, matter just as much.

The show is kind of like a dark buddy comedy à la Weekend at Bernie's or Midnight Run: Our heroes are goofy, the straits are dire, we don't know how they're gonna pull it off, but damn do we want them to.”

“Fresh energy to the true crime series format.”

“Directed by Tim Johnson —who knows what he’s doing—the series follows the efforts by Mr. Mildon and his creative partner, Jackson Rowe, to solve the now 86-year-old puzzle.

They do not know what they’re doing.”
